With Corporate Class Inc.’s role in the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) annual conference later this month, this post will spotlight the HRPA and the multitude of opportunities and resources they provide to their members. I’ll also give a sneak preview of my two presentations at the conference, “Maximize Your Networking Skills” and “Developing Your Presence.” I am excited to present these critical concepts for success in front of diverse range of Human Resources professionals – will you be one of them?
What is HRPA?
According to the HRPA website, the HRPA has over 20,000 members in 28 chapters across Ontario. This comprises an enormous network of Human Resources professionals, for whom the HRPA provides online and written resources, opportunities for development, and events. Unique about the HRPA is its commitment to thought leadership in the field of HR: the organization pursues research and surveys to chart and plan for the future of the Canadian workforce and economy. It also keeps its members up-to-date on changes in the profession and revisions to HR law.
Its extensive resource centre includes online resources, print books, an organizational magazine, and more. The availability of these resources serves as an excellent reminder for all professionals – whether in HR or otherwise – to take advantage of their memberships to professional associations. Staying involved in your field means taking the initiative to grow as an individual and to keep on top of developing issues. All of this can be achieved through association resources that are often right at your fingertips.
HRPA 2014 Conference: HR Excelerated
This year’s HRPA Annual Conference & Trade Show focuses on HR’s role in fostering innovation. From January 22 to 24 here in Toronto, the conference explores the potential of individuals to excel as innovators and how HR as a sector can be innovative.
At Corporate Class Inc., we are ready to take part in this strategic focus for HR professionals and to help develop professional presence. Here is a description of my two presentations at the conference, Maximize Your Networking Skills (Thursday, January 23, 11:10 am – 12:00 pm) and Developing Your Presence (Friday, January 24, 7:00 am – 8:00 am):
These Executive Presence sessions demonstrate elements of how to feel more at ease with large groups, as well as how to build on opportunities to establish professional relationships. Both include a body language component that provides insights into the unconscious facial expressions, involuntary movements, and body gestures that all speak louder than words.
If you would like to join me at the conference and learn more about these concepts in my interactive sessions, registration for HRPA 2014 is still open for both members and non-members. Sign up today and I will see you at the conference!
