Michael Jones



 


Michael Jones is a pianist and composer as well as a speaker, leadership educator, writer and dialogue facilitator. He is widely recognized for his unique and innovative work in bringing together authentic leadership with creative artistry and dialogue practice to further the work of personal transformation and organizational learning.

He has integrated musical performances in speaking engagements, seminars and community dialogues in a variety of forums, including; Leading for Innovation at the Banff Centre The MIT Dialogue Project and Dialogos Inc., The Creative Education Foundation, The Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, The International Leadership Association, Penn State Milton S.Hershey Medical Center, Proctor and Gamble, The Canada School for the Public Service, Towers Perrin Tillinghast and The DeBaak Management Centrum in the Netherlands among many others.

Michael is a Leadership Fellow and Associate Faculty with the Executive MBA and
Executive Leadership programs at The Center for Professional Excellence, University of
Texas, San Antonio and a Charter-Consulting Member with The Society for Organizational Learning (SoL)

He has been engaged in several long term innovative projects including a four week Creative Leadership Program with Zachry Construction and Engineering in San Antonio, a series of dialogues on Leadership for Transformation and The Power of Place and Place - Based Leadership with The Fetzer Institute in Kalamazoo Michigan and Connecting for Our Future a series of dialogues with a leading global food and beverage company.

An evocative writer and storyteller, Michael is the author of two books; Creating an Imaginative Life (1995,2006) and Artful Leadership, Awakening the Commons of the Imagination (2006). He has also contributed numerous essays on transforming leadership including most recently Building Leadership Bridges with Jossey Bass publishers and
Journal of Leadership Studies published by Wiley Publications.

As a pianist/composer, Michael was the founding artist of Narada Records where he has sold over 2 million of his recordings of original solo piano music worldwide. His music has served as a benchmark for the popular genre of contemporary instrumental music. He has performed widely in the US as well as in Korea, Japan and the International Piano Festival in Montreal, Canada.

Michael holds a BA in Music and Psychology from Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B and an MA in Adult Learning from the University of Toronto. He lives with his partner Judy, an educator, healer and fine artist, in a lakeside community north of Toronto. His web site is www.pianoscapes.com.
